Layover-shadow map
Added by Melanie Rankl over 9 years ago
Hey guys,
has anyone of you experiences with the layover-shadow map (ls_map), which is one of the optional outputs from gc_map?
In the Diff&Geo manual (15ff.), Gamma says the map shows values in byte format (0-16), but after geocoding etc it will be values between 0-25/29 (Fig. 12, p 17). How do these values match the ones shown in Table 1, p.16?
Has anyone any ideas?
Thanks,
Melanie

Hi Melanie,
how did you actually geocode the ls_map product? If I look at the description for geocode_back I find the format_flag parameter that can be set to:
input and output data format 0: FLOAT (default) 1: FCOMPLEX 2: SUN raster/BMP format 3: UNSIGNED CHAR 4: SHORT
I am not sure whether unsigned char or short are even the right format flag for you or if that function cannot be used for byte files at all. Maybe you have to do a conversion first?
Regarding the image in the manual: I would not bother too much about the (wrong?) scaling here, as obviously colors for the higher values (>16) do not appear in the image anyways.
